Muscles Are Weird

It's not a very long podcast offering this week, but it seems that the podcasts that come in around the 15 minute mark are the ones that get received the most positively. This one begins with me regaling you with the tale of how I ended up smelling like vanilla (but thankfully avoided causing lasting damage to my laptop) and then I go into how my leg muscles absolutely suck. I went on my bike a little on Tuesday and it really took it out of my legs after a very short amount of time. Given how I barely ever exercised at all since I joined the gym, I don't think it's a lack of exercise that caused this to happen. At the gym I would stay on cross trainers and treadmills at high elevation and I would actually put the exercise bikes on the highest resistance and have very little trouble pedalling. Seems I know how to ride a bike, just not the finer mechanics of it.

Damn I need to get back into that gym.

  1. Sometimes I get on my airdyne and I feel like I can conquer the world; other times I get on and feel like I'm going to die. I'm sure your leg muscles are fine - just keep at it!

Also, your mention of iced vanilla coffee has inspired me to go brew some. So, thanks for that - aiding a coffee fiend.

  2. Well, I am not an expert on biking either. Perhaps you should just do a lot of walking and work your way up from there. Do a little bit at a time, and try to build on it. There's a thin line between not doing enough activity, and pushing yourself too hard. You kinda have to make a judgment call on that, or else you will get depleting returns.

  4. I had to start out biking slowly too. I'm not real sure how the gears work on them either. I end up leaving it in the same gear all the time which is not what you're supposed to do.

  5. I agree with Jimmy. Walking could really help build them up!

  7. I can relate to the coffee spilling (at work) and muscles being sore after exercise.

    It's a good pain though.

  8. The best way to build up your muscles is to kiss them. Kissing them yourself is good, but they grow even faster if you get hot babes to kiss them for you. Hope this helps.
