A Video Podcast. Wait, What?

I recorded another version of the Kickstarter pitch video and because I felt bad not having a podcast two weeks in a row I decided instead to just make an actual video podcast, with the new video itself contained within. I'm quite happy with the results, and I hope you are too.

For some really quite bizarre reason its not letting me embed the video like it would a normal podcast. As such I've had to take to other sources for this instead of making you just go to another website. That pretty much guarantees barely anyone watches it. Although you can find it in it's original home here.

Before the Kickstarter stuff airs there is just a brief update about some of the things in my life such as taking a huge walk and the fact I had a very busy day Monday, which was when it was all recorded. It's odd how I actually do very little work during my rest days of Tuesday and Wednesday it seems. I guess I really am taking them for rest.

Once again, criticism and what have you appreciated. Please do keep in mind though I genuinely have a monotonous voice and there's not much I can do about it.

EDIT: For some reason Photobucket cut the video in half. Not much I can do about it I'm afraid. I'll re-re-upload it later, but I'm also going to post just that section individually on Monday. My apologies for this mix up, and that I was unable to correct it earlier.

  1. Hmmm.. I don't know why everyone told you to get rid of the cats last week. People love cats. You should keep the cats. Or maybe you shouldn't. What do I know? The video embedded on the post cuts off right as you are starting to talk about kickstart. I'm a little confused what you meant about a video being on another site, and what you were editing, etc. and so forth. Anyway, I don't mind you being subdued in the videos instead of all peppy and energized. Really happy people frighten me. Other than that I really don't know what to comment other than say, keep on truckin', and may the force be with you.

  2. Yeah, I'm with Jimmy. I'm a bit confused because it seems like the video cuts out right as you start to talk Kickstarter. Also, the monotone voice is never a problem. Always be yourself. As for my feedback, I just meant to give us exciting reasons why we should help you, not to actually yell and be "exciting."

  3. The video cut out on me about 3 minutes in. I don't know if that's what you were talking about when you said Photobucket cut the video in half or not. It may just be my bum work computer.

Maybe it's just your accent, but I don't find your voice to be all that monotonous. I have terrible hearing, and I don't have a problem focusing in on your voice.

  4. I forgot I needed to check this out. I really want to go to bed though, so I just skipped through it real quick. Couple of points that struck me, but may I go through it again tomorrow or sometime and see if I can find anything else. (I downloaded it by the way, so I can always check it on the train if anything, haha.)

Lighting from the right is way bright, fix that. May be the time of day, positioning, or some settings on your webcam (still not using a video camera?).
You've gone a step up in the confidence thing, but it's not consistent. May be just me, but taking a look at that again can never hurt.
"something something killed myself, bit of a downer". That's some heavy stuff there. Sure it's in your book, but should that be in your pitch? Something to think about.
The cuts with the black screen and white text seem a tad long, they appear too frequently, and you actually reply to the questions they ask. The time between cuts is often way short, and when you cut, do *cut*talk*cut* instead of *cut*wait*talk*wait*cut. Make it more fast-paced.
    >not good at press releases, not a lot of things I can do myself
That's exactly what the media DOESN'T want to hear. You're the star here man.
(Also, if you need a website or something, I'm your man (and a guy who needs to fill his portfolio).)
"it even made my sister cry" GOOD JOB.
Think I covered enough for now. sleep beckons

    Hope this helps!

  5. There's a couple of hitches in the video but personally I'm just glad that you have the confidence to communicate via video now. Also agree with what Fang on the confidence thing, you're the star here. But I also feel like since you are a writer that you do have a prerogative, to be proactive or not to be proactive. You seem to want to be prominent in promoting this book though, so you've got to embrace that.
