Red Dwarf

Well as you know I've been watching a lot of Red Dwarf lately, and it's an awesome piece of British comedy. It was a bit hard finding single scenes or clips that could be funny without the context of the rest of the episode, so if you've never seen it I would have to suggest checking it out.

The first video is a scene in which Rimmer, one of the characters (obviously) is on trial for committing the crime of causing the death of the entire crew. That's not really a spoiler, don't worry. What follows is by far the best legal defense in history.

The second clip is from an episode where Kryten, the robot from the above clip, is turned in to a human, and is having a little trouble adjusting to his new body. Apparently Craig Charles, the actor who plays Lister, was given an actual picture of a wang just to get a genuine reaction.

Like I said, it's a great series, easily worth checking out.

  5. Brilliant!! I liked the line about not being able to outwit a used teabag in the first vid. I liked the second vid too, except I was kinda wondering why in the 23rd century they would still be using polaroid technology...it's so 1987-ish.

  9. This was a brilliant series. We have all of it on DVD and every now and then we go through periods where we watch it from beginning to end. Right now we're watching Black Books every night.

The Young Ones is another series that we re-watch over and over again.

  13. We don't really get British shows here, unless you're subscribed to the BBC channel.

  16. I have heard good things about Red Dwarf and since, as you know, I've recently started a love affair with sci-fi, I definitely need to check it out. Since I don't have cable, I'll have to see if I can find it on Netflix (the streaming version, which doesn't have as many things as the original Netflix DVD service. Go figure!). I didn't realize it was a comedy. I thought it was just a traditional science fiction show. Shows what I know! Haha!
