I'm Late, I'm Late, For A Very Important Date

I'm late, I know I know. I woke up at about 4am (couldn't resist checking the clock) thanks to illnesses/eating fruit to get rid of it. When I woke up again at my actual "get the feck up" time, I turned my alarm off, then fell straight back to sleep. Twice. This always happens so I've taken to putting my alarm a little further away so I have to move more to get to it. I find that when I actually sit up, I'm good. If I stay laid down, I'm going back to sleep. Now for those of you thinking I need the extra sleep, I don't. I get a lot more done by forcing myself to get up, and I never feel any more alert or anything if I go back to sleep. It doesn't help much in the energy department. If anything it makes me feel worse that I've slept so much. I really do function better on less sleep. Though there's a limit of course. Anyway, enough babbling.

David Mitchell is an incredibly funny man. One of the funniest things about him is when he goes on to a rant. He did this so much he went and got his own youtube show called David Mitchell's Soapbox. Now, he might be a comedian, but he is incredibly educated and very well spoken, and really knows his stuff. The soapbox videos can really make you think. So I'm just going to shove two of them in here. Feck I wrote so much.

  1. Less sleep and alarms makes for a very grumpy Old Kitty!

  2. Enjoy the extra sleep man and just concentrate on getting better, that's what's most important, your body needs all the rest it can get for recovery.

  3. You're right, he's funny, but he's very intelligent which runs counter to much of today's thinking (now I'm self-conscious about apostrophe's). My favorite is the Unusually Smart Looking Men. The Hubby agrees with this one. You guys had a good thing going before the metrosexual males dominated fashion and mucked it up. Now men are wasting time and money walking around malls, getting manicures and pedicures and sweating at the gym. This all takes away from time spent just being men, which is all we women really want in the first place.

  5. It's like you need an optimum level of sleep. Too little or too much, and you're out of it the whole day through.

  6. I am much the same way when it comes to sleep. I went to bed between 12 and 1 last night...set alarms for 8, but woke up refreshed at 7:16. If I sleep in I usually feel bad because my whole day is shot, so I just get up and start living because even reading the news is more productive than laying in bed. I set 2 alarms, one by my head and one across the room. It works every time.

Sorry to hear that you have fallen ill. Hope it passes over very soon!

  8. Are you feeling any better? I hope you are. What is your normal waking time? I have to get up early every morning with the hubby but then I end up falling asleep for awhile after he leaves...

  9. I've seen David Mitchell's stuff before. He's a really cool guy, and has some great opinions, and even better ways of expressing them.

  13. The last soapbox video was brilliant. We can't have men turning into women, after all. :P

(Also, was he ever on Steven Fry's QI? I could have sworn I've seen him before.)

  14. So this post your doing on me tomorrow, should I feel excited or apprehensive (question mark). My question mark is broken. Really I wasn't planning on logging on at all tomorrow. But then again some of the funniest things get said about me when I'm away and I'm away a lot these days.

  16. I have found what helps in the morning is to have a bottle of water nearby when you wake up, because people wake up dehydrated, and the water may help with that some. Doesn't David Mitchell have his own late night TV show called "11 o'clock live" or something in that vein?
