Dylan On Germany

If you see this Anne, then know that I did in fact give you credit. On her blog Anne recently posted a video of not-so-politically-correct comedy by Dylan Moran on the subject of Americans. I couldn't think of anything to post, so I thought I would borrow her idea and post another of Dylan Moran's comedy routines. He's an absolute comedy legend, and this is what he had to say about Germany.

Please note if you ARE German, this is all in good fun. It's just comedy. I laugh at English stereotypes.

PS Sorry that it comes in off a joke, and goes off during a joke. I didn't upload the video, so it's not my fault. But I still apologized.

Huh.

  2. I'm glad you put this up here. I had the best time with my post yesterday. A tremendous amount of give and take on the realities of living in a PC world and everyone got to express their own views and no one got mad. I've never done any sort of political or social issue post before. When I do comedy, I'm always the butt of the joke.

This was a good vid because it's funny and your putting something up where an Irishman is also taking the piss out of an Englishman as well as the Germans. Now that's fair and balanced. Thank you Mark!!

    1. You know I didn't really think of it like that. But I do get a laugh out of people taking the piss out of the English. Most of it is really too accurate. But it's all good fun, that's why they call it a joke, and comedy.

  3. Great little video - I've never seen Dylan before and now I feel like I have a lot to catch up on lol... funny guy!

I thought it fine humour - since it *was* humour. When I went to Germany with an Elderly French lady, she basically said all the same stuff, but wasn't being funny.

    1. Well there's no real problem as long as it's in jest. We all have stereotypes about them cheese eating surrender monkeys they call the French too.

  4. Good laughs, this guy always has that "just woke up / hung over look" works for him too.

    1. He does look like, and when he's drinking on stage, well he might be like that naturally. He does pull it off really well though.

  7. WTF, Mark! This video comes in off a joke, and goes off during a joke... what were you thinking? HAHAHA, sorry. I couldn't resist. Well, that is true about always associating Hitler with Germany and Germans. I guess it is sort of like people who always associate Chicago with Al Capone.

    1. Everyone has stereotypes really, and we should embrace them and accept that for the most part they're pretty damn funny.

  8. Jokes on stereotypes are the best, unless they are taken too seriously.

  10. I love Dylan Moran, it's a pity that he is hardly on T.V. now, but I do have all of "The Black Books" series recorded.
One of the best things to come out of Ireland...except for probably Anne!
I can't get on with "Mrs Brown's Boys" at all. :(

    1. Nice of you to randomly stop by, you should do it more often :P I think that's a nice explanation of why Hitler was a vegetarian despite being one of the most evil men ever. It's not that he had a good bone, it's that German food is awful.

  17. I love Germany and its people, which is why I love jokes about Germany and its people. I would love to live there, but Germans I know talk about how depressing it is there. This was brilliant.
