Door's Open Boys (And Girls)

It took me quite some time to do this, but I'm going to do it. I'm going to actually ask people to write guest posts for me. It's as simple as this. Lately I've not really had much in the way of inspiration, or things coming to me that make think "Hey, write about that." I've just been lacking motivation, I've been lacking happiness really I suppose. But I can't write about what's making me sad. I can't write about what's happening.

As such, my lovely little blog as suffered, and I haven't been able to give it the love it deserves, or needs. I still want to write, this blog has been an amazing influence on my life, both positive and at times negative, mostly positive, and I would like to see it's continued existence.

As such, instead of asking you to suggest topics to write about, I'm going to ask you to write about topics yourself. I'm going to ask that you lend me a spare draft, or if you have, or want to make, a post that doesn't fit in with the theme or style of your blog, or something you think wouldn't go down so great on there. Such as me and having other people host my poetry.

As well as giving you a chance to help me, I'm giving you a chance to do something good for yourselves as well, and I'm giving you the chance to use my soapbox.

Fang has already said he will do one for me, and I hope to have it up tomorrow, or Friday, but I would greatly appreciate anyone else who wants to do something.

This feels more like a cry for help than me being nice and saying I want you to do a guest post for me.

I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Anyway, if you have something spare, or you can write something for me, then feel free to write to me at ramblingperson@hotmail.co.uk. That's the email from my contact page but I thought I'd save you the trouble of having to click that page.

I'm also open to things besides guest posts too btw. Send me some questions if you want or something, I can do another Q&A.

So ends me actually allowing myself to ask for help. It was nice while it lasted, I don't see it happening again.

  4. Let me think about it for a few days and if I can come up with something I'll let you know. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking photography as I plan on getting outside and taking some pics over the next few days.

    1. Hey I'd love something from you, but don't worry if you can't do it.

  9. This sounds like a good idea. I might steal it.

  10. I could do a guest post if by guest post you'd allow a single picture. (tell me anything and I'll draw a picture of it!... ah hell and maybe write a little story that goes along with it...)

    1. Hey that would do. I'm quite happy with just a single picture. I can't really think of much though. If you have a random picture lying around, or get some idea (that's safe for work obviously) then that would do.

    2. Naa, I do that kind of stuff all the time. I want you to suggest a picture! I like a challange!

    3. I keep coming back here hoping you've suggested a picture idea...

    4. I know but I can't think of one I'd actually be able to ask you to do.

    5. I'll take that as a you want me to draw a picture of you not knowing what to think of?

      Delete
    6. If that's the case then just draw me thinking about Fluttershy from My Little Pony. If you can draw her.

    7. For the love of God keep it tasteful please! People have a bad enough opinion of me and the ponies as it is.

    1. I'm sure you of all people can think of something. Or just hit me with some ideas like when I did a guest post for you.

    2. I still have to get that up sometime soon. They changed my hours at work so I'm in total flux right now. Pissing me off. But yes, I am interested in doing a guest post. Whatever you want, e-mail me.

    3. I'll hit you up indeed. Sucks about the work hours too.

  12. Hey Mark, it happens to us all from time to time. Just don't force it and it will come back, I still don't feel as if I'm posting as much as I used to, and I never wrote as often as you do.

I was reading back through my posts last week - hard to believe my blog is over a year old now, but it occured to me that some of my older posts are never going to see the light of day as newer readers are never going to go back that far, and I was thinking about re-posting. How about you use a couple instead ?

    1. Someone very recently went through some of my old posts but I doubt many people would, it was something I noticed myself. I have plans to do some lookbacks too, but not right now. I will, however, accept some of your back catalogue if you can spare it.

    2. Cool, at some point in the next couple of days I'll look through and email a couple over :)

  13. I have no idea why I haven't bothered to check your stuff out until now man but I hope you'll forgive me, I'm finally following you.

It's a shame that just when I get around to checking you out you feel like you're running out of inspiration to write but it's okay man, sometimes it's a good idea to just take some time out and not post for a while, to kind of recharge your batteries if that makes sense. So yeah, best of luck buddy.

    1. Actually if I remember right you have stopped by before. Maybe you'll stick around longer this time. I'd take time out, or lessen my schedule, but then I wouldn't be me. Or punctual.

  15. Hmm, not really a fan of guest posts.

  16. If I had the guts I think I'd write something but the minute I'm like "I want to write I guest post" (or I'm asked) I get the biggestttttt writersblock ever. so I don't dare :P

but I'll think of some questions for you and then DM you them on twitter or something :D

  17. Hm, I could do a guest post for you but you're going to have to provide a topic of some sort. I'm actually starting to run out of ideas for my blog as well. :P

    1. Haha if I could think up ideas I'd just do them for myself. Maybe on some other holidays you've been on? You said your dad takes you on a lot but I haven't heard that many stories.

  19. I'd love to do some writing for you, except I've never done such a thing.

I mean...perhaps if I wrote up something as if I was going to write it for myself, then send it to you? Could I host it at my usual site as well?

I love writing, but I must admit I usually do it for purely selfish reasons - I just love writing, y'know? But writing for someone else...I dunno, never did that before.

    1. Hey that would do fine if you want. I can understand that.

  20. Well, I'm not happy to hear this. Would you be interested in combining sites? Or maybe add me as an author and ill add you as an author and we can each post maybe once a week on each others blogs. There are plenty of options, we could choose wat topics we want each other to discuss? As you can see I have a few contrbuters to my site, and I have the authors name underneath the title.

    1. Sorry man but for now I think I want to remain the sole author and contributor here.

  21. good luck with this
I have to push myself to write posts for my blogs as it is, don't think it would be a good idea to try and do a guest post

    1. No problemo. I can understand that. It's why I'm kinda reluctant to do guest posts.

  22. I remember when I threw this idea out there for mine and you said it would be difficult, as it's sometimes difficult to come up with your own. I didn't realize it at the time but you were SO right. I hosted someone and they asked that I return the favor. I did but it was kind of hard. There's a sense of pressure. To write better than you would for your own.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I don't get that kind of pressure, just a lack of ideas :)

  23. If I have any spare ideas, mate, I'll send them over to you!

In the meantime, just relax with the writer's block. There have been periods in which I haven't put up a blog post for WEEKS because my heart wasn't into it. Only until you feel better will something good come!
