A Musical Journey

A slightly late post again. This time though it's not that I didn't have anything planned it's that I didn't get about to doing it. I would say life got busy (and it kinda did) but it didn't get that busy. I guess you could say more distracting. Anyway. I was a bit depressed recently, as I always am eventually, and instead of posting just one song, I thought I would share with you the six songs that got me through it. Two depressing as hell ones, and then we pick up for the last four. The point of the first two was that I was trying to make myself cry, but more on that later in the week, or next week, depending on your view point.

First up; Dead Boy's Poem by Nightwish

Second; Sleeping Sun, also by Nightwish

Next we get a bit happier with Doing The Unstuck by The Cure. That's right folks The Cure actually made some life affirming music. But I guess in a way Disintegration was life affirming because it was more melancholic than outright depressing. Anyway, Doing The Unstuck.

Fourth is Last Man Standing by Bon Jovi

Fifth is Unbreakable, also by Bon Jovi

Last but not least is Carpe Noctem (Seize The Night) by Wuthering Heights. Because seriously, if you cannot win the day, seize the night. I love that line so damn much.

Enjoy folks!

  1. Music is a great tool for influencing your emotional state. Just don't rely on it too much and make sure you can also do without it! ;D

    1. I for one do enjoy depressing music. Especially when I'm depressed. The rest would have picked you back up and made you enjoy it.

    2. So youtube finally decided to be cooperative again. Now I'm just a few more seconds from screaming along to the songs. Which is a bad thing 'cause it's midnight and I'm supposed to be doing homework.

    3. Homework is secondary to music.

  4. Two of my favourite Nightwish songs here! Sleeping Sun is gorgeous and Dead Boy's Poem is another really pretty song. The Cure = Brilliance. This is a great post, and thanks for the lovely comment, I'm glad you liked the photos! xxx

    1. I adore them. I absolutely love Kamelot. I was so damn happy when I found them, and then found more of them, and just kept listening to it. I like what I've heard of Lacuna Coil but I haven't heard all that much.

  7. I'm at work (on my lunch break - honest! LOL!) so can't listen to these clips! Oh but I am so sorry you were feeling depressed. I hope you got to have a good cry. It's great the last four songs helped you to turn on the light in your darkness - also it's Bon Jovi and I know exactly one Bon Jovi song I quite like cos it's sort of pop and very light rock - ahem!! - Living on a Prayer - even I can sing along to that! LOL! Anyway, I am rambling now and need a cup of tea! Take care

  10. Ooh I specially love that Carpe Noctem. I use Carpe Diem (sieze the day) a lot but Carpe Noctem is just so much cooler.

    Hope you're feeling better.

    1. You growled at me, how could I not? I'm not sure if carpe noctem is the actual Latin for seize the night, but I'm looking forward to one day being able to use it.

  12. Most of the songs wouldn't play for me. I am sorry you were feeling blue. Depression runs in my family, and I run from depression, so I know how it is. To keep depression at bay, my life requires a great deal of discipline. Clean living, no alochol, meditation, and exercise. No matter what, I can't outrun emotion. Sadness will happen. Sia's Breathe Me helps me get out the tears.

  13. What, no Livin' on a Prayer? That's really all you need to kick depression to the curb. Feel better.

  17. quite the eclectic mix! Bon Jovi, Night Wish and The Cure...so random but awesome at the same time. I'd honestly take the cure over both the other two bands, although I do love suuuper old Bon Jovi.
