Political Satire Ahoy!

This post, if I can actually formulate it into a post, is going to be based on two tweets I made, inspired by an email I sent to Fang.

We were discussing America (FUCK YEAH!) when it hit me that the "ultimate democracy" in America had managed over the years to become the ultimate totalitarian state. The first tweet I sent out said "It's kind of sad that the "Ultimate democracy" is becoming the ultimate totalitarian state #NDAA #SOPA #America" and the second one was "If anyone needs me I'll be in Gitmo on account of that tweet. Assuming your government let you read it".

Now, when I started here one thing I would have liked to have done is a bit of political satire, and while I sometimes try to avoid serious subjects, I did smell a post. So I was going to make it eventually. In case you really don't know NDAA is an act that states that people can be arrested pretty much for no good reason. There are parts of it that suggest that it cannot be done to American citizens, but there is analysis that states it can. I'm going to let our good buddy Ron Paul tell us about it

Kiss goodbye to your freedom!

SOPA (the Stop Online Piracy Act) is and will always always ALWAYS be, online and internet censorship. Well done on speaking out against China and North Korea for censoring the internet and the mass media, and then doing it yourself. You totally fucking rule. This time I'm going to let Anonymous tell you why you should be scared. If you don't want to listen to it all or have trouble hearing or understanding it, just watch it on YT and read the description, it's a full transcript.

"The SOPA act is a direct violation to people's right to freedom of knowlege and information, And for that violation the United States government is a disgrace to the land of the free, The free that every United States soldier has fought or died for. " Is an excellent quote from the video.

I know not every American is a redneck patriotic idiot that would let a security guard fuck them in the ass to prove they aren't a terrorist (I got that idea from SMBC but sadly cannot find the comic to link it) and some of you are rational human beings, and some of you are as outraged by all this as I am (hey Pope! If you're reading). A sad fact is though that it seems that the majority are the ones who are, and they are the ones people hear. My only hope is that things like this will cause the people to rise and fight back.

Egypt took their country back, Libya took theirs back, can't America take America back?

I really hate to break the mood but I recently added Kbbuddingwriter to the page of Blogs To Check Out. I made that list ages ago and haven't updated it once I think. Some of those blogs don't even go on anymore. Anyway, please do check out Kb, and continue to fight for freedom, internet and real!

  2. Thanks for adding me.

I do think this thing is just to gain favor of the 'big' music record labels. Money rules your ass, no matter who you are.

  3. These won't only effect America either, more like the whole world..

    Weird Interesting News

  4. @The Angry Lurker I hope more people think like that.

@Kb No problemo. It is caused by the media guys, that's why it's called the Stop Online Piracy Act, but it's going to be used for full proper internet censorship as well. But you can't stop piracy.

@Speakers4u it won't no. If America do it then everyone will find the balls to do it.

  5. I know you mentioned censorship/piracy before and that I was gonna make a point of looking it up but did I? No. Therefore I'm gonna end this comment before I look completely stoopid :P

Btw, I love how you can write about politics etc, isn't it like one of the blogging taboos lol?

  6. Obama's power grab? He was democratically elected into office.

  7. SOPA hasn't passed yet, and I don't believe that NDAA or SOPA would have staying power if people felt they were too harmful. Also, comparing the USA to Lybia and Egypt? Really?

  8. @Hazel I can write about anything I want by writing about nothing in particular. I think though that if I was encouraging people to rebel, or to pirate things, that might be looked at differently. Here I am merely informing people. Minus that little bit at the end. Just pretend that didn't happen.

@Film Geek Bastard He was indeed. That doesn't mean he can't do a power grab.

@Shaw I'm glad SOPA hasn't passed yet. A lot of people think these things are harmful. Though it's either not enough or not the right people. As for the bit at the end, I was looking for a great way to end. In some ways America is worse than Libya and Egypt, at least those guys could see what was happening, and fought back.

  9. Hot damn, I really am becoming a big influence on you! ;D

With 19 days left, I heard there's a bunch of people going out and meeting with senators in real life, to tell them why they need to be against SOPA. Real good people are getting involved like this, but if it passes, a huge-ass demonstration in front of the White House is certain to happen.

  10. Oh America, you always make LOL.

  11. @Fang I think I still influence you more :P I think if it passes then there's a chance a huge ass bloodbath in front of the white house could happen. But I'm a dreamer really.

    @My 2 Pesos I don't really see this as a laughing matter.

  12. I don't think that comparing two long and corrupt dictatorships finally being ousted by its people (one being more violent than the other) compares to these 2 laws that have or will be voted on by democratically elected representatives. I don't disagree with you that SOPA is wrong or that the NDAA could be abused, but the issues here are no where near as serious as what you compare them to with Egypt and Lybia.

  13. @Bersercules Every time I say America I'm tempted to add "FUCK YEAH" as a Team America tribute.

@Shaw True true, in both countries people were killed for no reason at all. It was a terrible regime. That is one of the fears with NDAA, that America will eventually become like that. There are several comparisons as well to what Hitler did with the Jews. It could be people overreacting or it could be a very real concern.

  15. dissapointed I am with the entire political system. I'm an avid follower of politics and current events so it pains me to say, I don't plan on voting in the 2012 election since...I'm tired of choosing between a lesser of two evils.

  16. I don't want to live on this planet anymore...

  17. @Steve Bailey This comment has been removed by SOPA. Censorship, whether you want it or not.

@MRantrhope I'm keeping up with British politics, and trying to keep up with American ones, but that is just because of Ron Paul. There are a lot of people in your situation really. Vote Cthulu, why vote for the lesser evil?

    @Mike Neither do I sometimes.

  18. SOPA is bullshit, and Ron Paul may be right in opposing it, but he is a fucking crazy person. If he wins the presidency, America is completely fucked. Even more than we are now.

    ReplyDelete
  19. @Generally Disgruntled I thought you'd be behind him really. I am actually. The things he says make sense. He's one of the most honest and sense-making politicians I've ever seen.

  20. I live here in Amurrica and I can tell you it's getting pretty bad, BUT I don't lay all the blame on Obama. Everyone should know that it would be several times worse if it were a Republican in office.

    ReplyDelete
  21. This is my one serious comment and then I'll go on to my usual: Wasn't Hitler democratically elected, too?
    Okay, whew, enough of that....
This SOPA thing gives me the willies. Does that mean I can't make fun of Anthony Weiner anymore?
    Crap.
Barney Frank is probably out, too.

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Henry I know all the fault isn't Obama's, and a lot of the money problems were in fact caused by the Republicans constantly raising the debt and thinking they could sort it out later. I don't think anyone could have inherited what Bush left behind properly.

@Al Hitler was an elected official to the best of my knowledge, but as soon as we mention him we lose the war. It's why vegetarians are evil, Hitler was a vegetarian. I'd like to say you shouldn't be afraid of SOPA, because it hopefully won't happen. I don't have much hope these days though.

  26. As long as I don't have anything negative to say I can still say whatev-

  27. @MRanthrope: That's exactly why I haven't voted.

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Mekkor But very few people think like that. No one is really seeing it as the threat and problem it is.

    @Interwebs Fails you just might.

@T. Roger Thomas You'll have freedom under SOPA and NDAA, the freedom to do exactly what they say.

@Heaven I'll address that next week.

  29. Europe scares me more with elected democratic leaders being replaced by technocrats...

  30. He fools a lot of people. Mostly single issue voters who only agree with him on marijuana legalization. But he's a fucking doctor who doesn't believe in evolution, wants to return to a gold standard (which would throw most of america into poverty), believes in deregulation of corporations, and right to work. Right to work pisses me off, because it practically bars employees from being unionized. While I believe that unions aren't as necessary in the modern age as they were 50 years ago, they;re still a right. Shit, the only thing I agree with him on is that he would take a hefty pay cut as president. That's it. His dependence upon state's rights is going to plunge this country back into the fucking civil war.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @G Sometimes a democratically elected official can be dangerous.

@GD Well I can't vote so...eh. I will agree though that most people seem to like (and hate) him for the marijuana thing. I do agree with his foreign policy though. America needs to pull back and keep to itself for once. Maybe get the world hating it less. Pulling all the troops home could do that. To be honest I'm surprised what is essentially fifty countries, most of the states are big enough to be considered countries, has managed to coexist for so long. Look at Europe, or even here at the good ol UK. We're four countries and we don't get along too well. That doesn't mean I want a civil war though. He has the one thing though that makes all politicians dangerous. Dude has charisma, he has people hanging onto his every word and agreeing with him.

    ReplyDelete
  32. At the core, all 50 states are the same. Europe is a coalition of different cultures, but the US is not nearly as diverse. We could be, but because we're a bastardization on europe, who gives a fuck. i mean I'm of irish, scottish, british, and german descent. That doesn't make any fucking sense outside of the unites states. The fucker does have charisma though...

    ReplyDelete
  33. My best friend has some Irish in her. God only knows what I am but I doubt there is anyone who's pure blooded English left. We've been pillaged to much. One problem with politics seems to be that you'll find a guy who's going to do something you want, but they also have plans to do things you don't want to happen.
