New Followers

This might be potentially a small post, but every time I've said that, it lasts very long. It's like telling myself it's going to be short makes me want to make it very long.

The point of today's post is two-fold. The first is to say that I'm trying to get myself some more followers, and I think I've got some, which makes me pretty happy yay. So I'm saying hello and welcome to any and all new followers, and the old ones too I guess. Pull up a chair, light a cigar, and grab some whiskey, and enjoy your seat in front of the fire. Terms and conditions apply. chair, cigar, whiskey and fire not included.

The other point is that I'd still like to get some more. One could always do with more followers. My readers have gone down, though no one has explicitly stopped following. I was comfortable with my following, and I did have a surprisingly dedicated one, but people stop blogging or following for whatever reasons.

Rather than ask you to get me followers (though feel free to do this) I'm going to do something different. I'm going to ask you to recommend some blogs. It's common courtesy on Blogger to follow back, or at least check out, people who follow and comment on your blog. That's really how I got most of my followers. As such, if there are some blogs that you think I would like, or just think need more love, then let me know and I'll check them out, and together we can make me a more powerful force than ever before.

That can only be a good thing.

  1. I have a list with some cool ones on it at the bottom of my post and if you check out the page tabs there are some other links too.

Not sure who we mutually follow though.

Guest posts can work sometimes too.

  2. @Mynx I'll check it out. No one wants me to do a guest post :( Well, I have done a few lol, but no one has explicitly asked me to do one but Fang. I have something coming up soon though!

  4. You should do a guest post. On my blog. I've been lazy the last couple of weeks and it's starting to show in my reading stats.

  5. @The Angry Lurker Will do.

@Michael You've said that before but then we never got round to doing it lol.

  6. Mark, I've been following Angry since I've been on blogger and he's a great guy. And I'd be glad to give you a follow and comment on your page. I'm not a big blog so I may not be your cuppa. If you don't follow me back, I'll take no offence.
    Best wishes

  7. @Anne He is a pretty good guy. I like the small time feel, even if this place gets huge I want it to keep that small time feel. Plus I'm all about helping the little guy.

  8. I've been wanting new followers/readers recently too. Tis part of why I joined Twitter. Though in order to get new followers you gotta put the effort in. I tend to go to my favourite bloggers and go through their followers and discover new blogs that way.

Though I just checked and you've got over 200 followers! Stop being greedy :P

  9. Good ideas, you should decide of carrying them out!

  10. @Hazel When you take into account how many of those people still read/comment/actually follow me, the number is a lot smaller. Not small, but still smaller.

  11. You follow most people I follow, so there isn't a lot to recommend there.

I recommend this blog though. Really good one!

  12. I have a list in my blog.. on the sidebar. You could check em all out. Though I really recommend Nas's blog.. Closing Pandora's Box. :)

  13. I dont think I follow any blogs that you don't already follow.

Who doesn't want a larger audience? The bad thing though is that it creates more work. That is just more blogs you have to visit and comment on. This is the work part of blogging. I'm lucky if I have time to post, yet alone go visit all these blogs and leave a comment.

You may have noticed my posting is less frequent. Not because I'm short on ideas, but because I'm too busy returning the favor for followers. That and I'm just too damn busy period!

  14. @Fang Good try lol.

    @Copyboy Cheers for that.

    @Leah Hehe I'll have a look.

@Danjor21 LOL I'll try to keep as on top of it as I can, I don't have too much to do, and so I'm currently okay.

  16. @MRanthrope People need to stop paying so much attention to their lives.

@My 2 Pesos Already got one. I still feel dirty over that.

  17. I'm too lazy to look for new followers.

  18. @Heaven I can be kinda lazy but not when it comes to being an attention whore.

  19. Reddit, one-click wonders? I just post and follow, sometimes I'll click on random people's blogs to check it out if it's my fancy.

  20. @Interwebs Fails Really you can never have too many.

@R.gers I need to keep up with my sharing really, it's just a few clicks.

  22. @Poetry Of The Day It can be neat, but whether or not it's practical is another matter.

@Marco Walter I might just do that, thanks.

  23. I could use a few more followers. Then again, that actually requires me to post something that more than just my diehard bros like you will comment on

  24. I seem to notice the same people popping up in Followers and commenters for a number of sites, which makes sense given the way most people move through the Blogger network. So definitely agree with R.ger that hitting some random ones to widen the circle will help.

  25. You read my post on blogging right? Commenting on the commenters of other blogs and then repeating this process is what I've done to keep my readership afloat.

I think our circles are pretty similar so I don't have anyone to recommend. :P

  26. @ENC Ummm...Thanks.

@Generally Disgruntled I think more people should read your stuff. I really do. You post what you like and if they don't like it they can just leave again, you'll get yourself people who like the intellectuality (when soberish), no matter the content. I can't wait until I take my own advice here. But it's yet to happen.

@RoR I like it when that happens, it makes it even more of a community.

@DWei Yes I read your post and that is partly the reason for this as well lol. As well as just randomly check out people who comment on other blogs, I was giving people the chance to recommend some blogs they thought needed more love.
