This Time It's Personal?

My Twitter post has been further pushed back, because I wanted to put this out earlier, as it is a reaction post. I should stop Tweeting until that post is up because I just keep coming out with things I want to include in there.

So I was made Holy Blog Of The Week by our good Pope Timothy Bowen, in case you didn't notice (I suspect you possibly didn't) and I decided to respond to it, and the rest of this post is going to explain why. His description of this blog is "Mark is a bright young man from across the pond. This is his personal blog, where he rants about various topics from Minecraft to how his day was, to the Fresh Prince of Belle Air." As much as I love Timothy (NO HOMO) and Eris (Possible homo) I never really regarded this place as all that personal. I mean, I suppose that given categories of blogs, personal is the closest mine gets, I tend to blog about anything that comes to mind, and this does usually involve a story from my past. But I just don't see myself as all that personal here.

I don't go into a lot of detail about myself. Other than that I am, or was, a sociopathic mess. I'm still a mess mind. I don't really talk all that much about my current life, about things that are actually going on for me right now. Fair do's most of that is because not much does go on in my life. Frankly if it did, I would have less trouble blogging. I would actually. So I suppose in that sense I am a personal blogger, but I've seen blogs wayyyyyyyyyyyy more personal than mine. Some a little too personal.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is "Thank you very much most gracious and great and powerful Pope Timothy, and I just don't see myself as all that personal. I do go into detail about some things, and I don't about others. Basing this place on personal experience also just makes it easier for me to do. It's a shame I'm running out of personal experiences, and I think I ran out of ones that I didn't mind my family knowing quite some time ago. I'm informed that my sister really does read this stuff and "Has learnt more about me from my blog than from me".

I suppose that does mean this stuff is quite personal. I have defeated my own argument. Damn.

  1. Yeah, I get what you're saying. Just posting about the stuff that you think is interesting, doesn't make it personal.

  2. Your sister... Creepy stalker girl...

  3. @Pieter This place really is sadly, in my opinion, quite personal.

@Fang Shush or she'll comment and I won't be able to lie to myself that she isn't here lol. If I would talk with my family more she wouldn't have to read this place to find out more about me.

  4. We only just touch on personal sometimes but some blogs I follow are very personal and sometimes the blog is from the ward they're in! That's the wonderful thing about blogging..you can say nearly anything you want to.

  5. hahaha! So I read the whole thing and ended up with you saying "I suppose that does mean this stuff is quite personal. I have defeated my own argument. Damn."
of course your blog is personal because if it's not, then I gotta have to look up for another meaning of personal.

  6. @The Angry Lurker You can say nearly anything, I can't because I don't want my sister to have a chance to read it lol. If I wound up in hospital and had internet access I'd probably try to keep the place updated.

@Mai Yang well yes the post was kind of redundant, but I had already written it, and I still wanted to thank Timmy ^^

  7. Personally (See what I did there?), I think it's more interesting when a blog is personal.

  8. we know a lot of thing about you already and with that picture of your eyes we can hunt you down thanks to your unique iris >:P ^^

  9. @The Dawg It can be, but it depends on the personal details the author shares. I've seen people say things on personal blogs I really wish they hadn't.

@Mekkor Haha all you know about me is I'm English, and I have a sister. My iris's are sadly not that unique.

  10. different bloggers have different styles, but personalities are bound to show through even in subliminal ways...

i like bloggers that create a wacky new identity like 'the hasidic plumber' but his wit and seriousness still shows in his comments

or "my 2 pesos" who combines random images and his comedy shows through his quirky side-comments

whereas your blog is about perspective on random topics. personal, true. but the best thing about personal is that it is unique

  11. Congrats on another award. :P

That's all there really is to say on the matter.

  12. @Indistinctive Writer Sometimes I try to be funny ha. Maybe my sister thinks that and that is why she says she has learnt more about me from my blog, and not just because of the personal experiences I share. It is true that no one is exactly like me, but that could be a bad thing really :P

@DWei Thanks, I don't think this can be counted as an award though lol.

  16. @Shaw it happens to me more times than I'd like to admit, but it does stop me from making a complete idiot out of myself.

    Sometimes.

  17. What kind of stuff do you have in your life you can't let your family know about? You a murderer? a rapist? Do you wipe your butt on their clothes when they're not at home? Do you have sex and want them to think your a virgin? Are you a virgin and want them to think your a slut? Do you dance with wolves?

  18. @My 2 Pesos Well I'm on Twitter, Facebook, and I use my real name, I'm not exactly making it all that hard.

@Bersercules No, No, No because I don't live with them, no, possibly, I wish. There are just parts of me I don't really want anyone to know.

  19. Not personal? What about that tiny picture of your eyes? We almost know what a quarter of your face looks like.

  20. @AllensTesch LOL That doesn't make the place any more personal. At least in my opinion. It can make it more personal sure, but there are people who have shown their face and kept their blog impersonal.

  21. When you tell any opinion of your own and not something force-fed to you, it definitely becomes personal. And you know me, I prefer personal. ;)

    Don't change it, either!

    ReplyDelete
  22. @Slavicmuse Hey nice to see you finally stop by :) I'm not changing anything ^^ I might do new things, but this place will always be my little corner of the internet to defecate on as I see fit.

  23. nice post...also it is always nice to see you respond on the posts..

    ReplyDelete
  24. @Maybe You I'm typically going to talk to someone who talks to me.

    ReplyDelete
  25. So if you lived with them you would be wiping your butt on their clothes? You are officially the coolest guy I know!

    ReplyDelete
  26. @Bersercules lol I doubt I would actually do that. I'm cool in other ways though.

    Maybe.

  27. I can understand what you're thinking when you say this blog isn't all that personal. You don't write diary-type entries about what you're thinking and what you're feeling day-to-day. However, when they give yours that appellation it's precisely because you post whatever comes to your mind, whatever the topic. This isn't a music blog nor a writing blog or anything specialized like that.

  28. @Henry that's one thing I did want this place to be. Nothing in particular, it opens me up to talk about whatever I want. I just wish I would actually talk about other things sometimes lol. Sometimes I do wish that I didn't care so much about what I post, it would open up new doors for me.

  29. If my parents found out about my blog, would think that i have some sort of brain damage.
My brother doesn't care much, he is well aware and i think he kinda likes it.
    Congrats btw!

  30. It's always nice to have a place to put whatever you want to say. Congratulations on the prize Mark.

  31. @Plumber Well it's not like you're overly crazy on your blog, you mainly stick to offering your opinion on seriously weird news stories, and interviews. The only thing that might slightly concern them is all the raccoons. Thanks though, you were the first to get it mind. The holy blog of the week dealy that is.

    @Makkura Thank you ^^

@R.gers It is nice, but I'm still not comfortable enough saying what I want to say :( It also weirds me out a bit when people call me by name here.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Aww that's awesome and so cool too! :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Hazel Thank you ^^ Yes, yes it is.

  34. Being personal is bad? *sniff, sniff*

And congrats on the Holy Blog thingy, sounds fun:D

    ReplyDelete
  35. @PeeVee Nah being personal isn't a bad thing, but there is such a thing as way too personal.
