I'm Not Sure What To Put Here

As I've moved the round up post to Monday, I really don't know what to do here on Saturday. Let's face it, intellectualism will not go down to well on Saturday, so there won't be any kind of essay length post. Most people want to enjoy their Saturdays, not spend it contemplating life, and I want those kind of posts to reach as many people as possible.

Here are some ideas I'm tossing around, and as the people who regularly view me on Saturdays, these posts will be for you, so I want your opinion on them.

  1. Make Saturday video day. As well as my Q&A vlog, I can do, or try to do, videos on other things, but I suppose I'll have to see how the Q&A vlog goes down before seriously attempting this. Plus I would need good ideas for videos to do. Bersercules has video reviews down, and I don't want to steal his thunder, plus I could never do it as well as him.
  2. Motivation day. In the older days of this place, I would dedicate a day to posting random inspirational or just badass quotes. I can start doing this again for Saturdays. It's something small, and it might bring a smile to someone's face
  3. Picture day. Now I've got myself a scanner, I've been contemplating drawing some things, and then colouring them on my computer and posting them or some such thing. The downside to this is that I'm very bad with drawing  and very self conscious lol.
  4. Another kind of picture day. I come across a lot of good pictures over my time on the internet, and I could post some, but I've always loved original content too much to do this. Yes I am aware that I won't post pictures due to OC, but I will post quotes. There's no real need to point that out to me.
  5. Take the damn day off. I'm not sure I'll ever really do this lol. But it's something I could consider I guess.
So, as the people who are reading this, and such the type who come here nearly every day, or at least on Saturdays, what kind of post do you want to see here? Maybe it's none of the above. I'm a blogger of the people, and for the people, so let me know! Heck I could just make a number generator and then use that to decide which one of the ideas I post each week.

  1. Inline ads, Mark? Really? Pfffffft.

But you should try your hands at drawing more.

  2. @Fang Yes inline ads, I got my reasons.

@Lemons Hah I'll see what I can do.

  3. I vote for the number generator, allows to you to forget about banal stuff and focus on the content.

  4. @Orang3 This was one of my thought patterns about that. I'll more than likely stick with that.

  5. I dunno, maybe something you really wanna write? haha! gosh. I'm running out of ideas myself :(

    ReplyDelete
  6. I like the quote idea, as I am personally really addicted to finding good quotes.

    ReplyDelete
  7. @Mai Yang I think I might just have to stick with the ideas I already came up with. If it's something I want to write I'll stick it up on a weekday, so that people will actually see it :)

@Kathy S Me too, which is why I have quite a few :)

  8. I say take the day off! Weekends are for relaxing and spending time with family and friends. The general rule of blogging is quality over quantity. If you post every day, you will soon run out of shit to write about.

  9. @Danjor21 Running out of things to write about happens about once a week for me, then suddenly, a weeks posts from nowhere lol.

  10. DO ALL THE THINGS!

Yeah, personally do something short. I like the sound of motivational stuff.

  11. @R.Gers so far I am set on everything, and using a number generator to decide which one I do each week.

  12. Can I just say those ads are REALLY FUCKING ANNOYING...they look like they're gonna be links to other stuff you wrote, well I know now to avoid them.
But then I might miss an actual link ?

I think Saturday should be porn day.
    No ?
    Ah well, just me then.

  13. @Dirtycowgirl Blue = my links, green and double underline = their links. If I didn't have so many underage readers and I signed an agreement not to put adverts on sites containing explicit adult content, I would consider it lol. So remember, when I'm posting a link to something I've written (or just anything) it's single underlined, and blue, if it's an advert it's doubled underlined, and it's green. Just keep your mouse pointer off the blog post and it won't affect you really. Or shouldn't.

  14. Doing videos wont steal my thunder! I want you to do videos! It would be great! (you could "steal" the idea of interviewing [from the Hasidic Plumber] and interview people on your video show and you could even interview me!)
You have other followers who arn't camera shy! You could interview them too!
Making videos can be easy and fun!
Even if your afraid to post the video cause you don't want anyone to see them you should still make one and see if you like making them! You might fall in love with making videos! I know I did!

  15. I don't like people repeating smart stuff someone else has said.

Other than that, I'd go with either 1 or some mix of 3 and 4.

  16. @Bersercules I was able to make my own video avatar, that looks incredibly female actually -_- So it's not so much a self conscious thing now when it comes to videos. I think people here expect me to keep hiding my identity, it's not really to do with being camera shy (that much, but I am). I don't really have anyone to video interview, or any way to do it actually. Like I said in the post I'll see how the Q&A Vlog goes. I tried to start making it last night when everyone else had gone to sleep but the words just wouldn't come out.

@Bob I know some people aren't that fond of that kinda thing nah, I myself would rather say things than find things others have said. I have done this actually. I have quite a lot of pictures I can be posting, it's something that won't get exhausted for a while really.

  17. Mark: You can make a video of you asking questions, than send the questions to the other guy, let him make a video of answering them and then just edit it together... I think some people do it this way.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I'm talking about that video interview deal.

    ReplyDelete
  19. @Bob That could work, you fancy bastard you. Editing like that though is going to restrict the number of questions.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Mark: Yep, that's me.
Depends how much you're lazy to edit them.. :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Well I consider "fancy bastard" a compliment really. I've never tried editing something that much really, or at all. I've turned clips into a full movie but there was no editing involved. I just smooshed them.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mark: I consider it a compliment too. :)
I have almost no experience with video editing either. I only did some small stuff in Windows Movie Maker. So can't really help you there.

    ReplyDelete
  23. @My 2 Pesos if I was a better artist I probably would too :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. @Bob Yay for fancy bastards! WMM was what I used too. It's quite easy for doing it too it seems. Just move the clip to where you want it to be, in this case after I ask a question, then snip it, as well as load the clip of their answers into it, and snip it after their answer. Do this until I have each question and each answer as separate little clips, then match them all up.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Mark: Yep, that might work. Not sure if it's the most efficient way with WMM's limited features and interface though.

    ReplyDelete
  26. @WMM is the only movie editing software I've ever used really. I think it's all I've ever needed. If I did do an idea like that though, I would consider looking into different ones if I felt like it would be a good idea.

    ReplyDelete
  27. @Mark If you send me the videos I could edit them, I love editing! I edit for 2-5 hours a day!

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Bersecules That would spoil it for you and I hate spoiling more than I hate repetitive tasks :P It's good to know a pro like yourself uses WMM though.

  29. @Interwebs I haven't decided on my title yet, I think I might go for High Lord Sir Rambling Person Esq., the Third.

  30. My advice would be to not set yourself a certain "theme" on certain days. I tried to do this and I just lost track of everything. Though you're more consistent than me so I'm sure it'll work for you!

    ReplyDelete
  31. @Hazel that's why I'm going to let the random number generator decide :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. I like the motivational. I've posted a few of those myself.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Henry ehhh I do to, but some people don't. At least if I let a random number generator decide for me, I can just blame the generator, so they can't hate me for posting motivationals :).

    ReplyDelete
  34. Can't wait to see what you decide :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. @Heaven Well the decision seems to be to use these ideas (or come up with some more too) and then let a random number generator decide just what I do that week.

    ReplyDelete
  36. dude I don't care what you post, I'm sure you will make it interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I personally prefer not to have a set schedule and be really flexible with what I post. I like mixing things up and discussing events as they happen.

But if this works for you by all means do it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. @Cricketfreak hehe thanks :)

@Bersercules I would but the only dice in this house are in board games at the top of my brothers wardrobe.

@DWei That's how I do things during the week, but I can't really make one of my classic long posts here, I don't want to eat into people's Saturdays too much and I want as many people as possible to read those posts.
