I'm An Architectural God

In the interest of shortish but still fun posts that have nothing really to do with anything, it gives me an excuse to post some Minecraft screenshots I took a while ago. Please note that even though I have grand dreams, nothing grand has been made just yet. Or is likely to be made lol. I'll lose the will to do it. Please also note I have no dye packs or anything, only one mod, and I'm not on 1.8.whatever.

I made real staircases, surprisingly painstaking
My awesome front door. I even made a proper little garden with an almost moat

The entrance to my mine that I've not found much useful stuff in

The basement, complete with two chests, a furnace and a crafting table

The current roof complete with a window box so I can watch mobs burn in daylight, and get a good view

The view from the window box, also not complete
As you can see I actually still have a long way to go. I'm trying to build a huge tower of death like the towers in Lord of The Rings, but cooler. However my mine really is bad. I can rarely find coal, and I barely ever find Iron, so if someone has some tips on finding iron or the other special bricks it will be most appreciated. Don't make your suggestion simply "Go on 1.8, infinite bricks" :P

Also I've updated the guest post page to include the story I wrote. I'm always open to doing things like guest posts, collab posts, and pretty much anything. The writing challenge is never over.

Also because I believe in having a point to posts, you might notice a lovely little YouSayToo box in the top right. I know this place is cluttered up enough as it is, and really I should take things off, not add them, but this is an alright thing, and I hope I've done it all right.

One final (I mean it this time) note is that I am always open to do guest posts/interviews/whore myself out. Seriously, the writing challenge never ends.

  1. Oh God you made something! At least you know how to design a decent house. It is perfectly symmetrical, right?

  2. @Fang actually it isn't, and that fact pains me. It's four blocks on one side, three on the other. I have big plans, if I can put them into action lol. I also have no bed, as I don't know how to make one of those.

  4. a tower? lol

oh! btw, I notice you made changes in your blog..Ü

  5. I have no idea what that game is! The only thing I can compare it to is building houses from scratch in Sims! Which I find to be the most fun part of the whole game lol

  6. hmmm it hurts so bad knowing i have such a bad laptop, even to run minecraft :(

  7. @Woodlouse lol thanks but I doubt it'll ever be completed. I just don't have the patience.

@Mai Yang If I could find a volcano I'd have a stereotypical super villain hideout. I have made one or two but the bar seems to be the only thing that works, not the yousaytoo thing.

@Hazel That is sort of what it's like, you mine bricks and then put them together to make something else and you can combine them to make other things, such as combining sticks and stone to make simple tools. I like building a house on the sims as well, but my sims never have enough money :P

@ Maybe You you can't even run Minecraft? Ouch

  8. Why are the Minecraft graphics so bad? Is it deliberately blocky, and in that case, why? O_O

  9. Not a Minecraft fan. I prefer Legos

    ReplyDelete
  10. @The Rambler It's deliberately like that, I'm not entirely sure why.

@Henry Meh Minecraft is essentially legos on a huge scale. I could never think of anything to make with legos though.

  11. It had to come someday!
    Your first Minecraft post
I also play Minecraft now for a couple'a weeks

But do you realize you could make actual stairs via crafting? ;D

    ReplyDelete
  12. @Neon You can? Seriously? I don't know how to make anything lol, or I don't have the resources. I can't even make a bed. I made those stairs block by block by block. I've also recently learnt a good way to make a dome that I hadn't considered. MC is for people way more creative than me.

  13. I have absolutely no idea what this is about.

That'll teach me for reading younger peoples blogs and thinking I'm down with the kids.

*goes off to play space invaders*

  14. @My 2 Pesos if you have the time and the patience I would suggest you give it a shot

@Dirtycowgirl if it helps I'd rather play space invaders than this, and I'm not even "Down with the kids". So don't use me as an example, go to someone even younger. They sadly exist.

  15. Writing challenge?

Write a blog (only 200 words long) pretending to be you minecraft character and tell us about yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Bersercules Only 200 words long? Your killing me here. I'll see what I can do.

  17. I think the deeper you go, the more rare ores you find.

The blocky graphics are imho pretty stylish.

  18. Tower of death! Tower of Death! Bring it!

  19. Tower of Death? Has a nice summer home ring to it.

    ReplyDelete
  20. @Bob I've looked it up, and I should be digging at the right level, but I can always go deeper.

@Copyboy LOL I really want to make it now.

@MRanthrope The only marvel is how it's still standing :P

@AllenTesch I would love to live in a tower of death over the summer.

  21. So much fun with minecraft xD

  22. Never played it or even heard of it for that matter. No time for games here, unless its madden or call of duty.

  23. Dig deeper until you hit a cavern. Once you find a cavern, you'll find anything and everything you need.

  24. I think you should build the biggest pig ever seen. And then worship it. The almighty bacon God. Think about it.

  25. Frank Lloyd Wright ain't got nothing on you

    ReplyDelete
  26. @DWei I saw a cavern just the once, but I never went into it properly, it was full of mobs and I just wasn't prepared.

@Hasidic_Plumber Now THAT is an idea.

@Generally Disgruntled nobody got nothing on me. I came up with stairs. Who else would have thought of that? Though he did make some wonderful things, and some of them probably did have stairs.

  27. Dude you have to make a server so I can play with you! that will be a productive project of 2 jobless humans with nothing to do but play minecraft!

    ReplyDelete
  28. @Dilord sorry I'm more of a going solo guy lol, having people to talk to and stuff would make it a lot easier to bear, but I don't know about all this server stuff, and I'd rather not get mixed into it.

  29. yeah, out of wooden planks, just make a stair on the crafting table

On Numpad it would be: 7,4,5,1,2,3 with either wooden planks or cobblestone

  30. I haven't ever played minecraft, but I know it's pretty popular. It's an open source game right? That's pretty cool if so.
I do almost all of my work with open source freeware.

    ReplyDelete
  31. i cant understand that hype behind minecraft.
Yeah, you can build whatever you want but the graphic itself looks so.... old?
Maybe im just to spoiled after all these years of playing the newest games with the newest graphics. I also need a story in a game

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Neon yeah when you told me it could be done I tried that and it worked :) I now have an extra set of stairs leading into my mine, and a bed, but a creeper blew up just outside my house and ruined my trees.

@Makor.Mack It's far from complete, if it ever is, then it will be :)

@A Lunatic Pope I like open source things a lot too, but I don't think Minecraft is anymore, but Notch operates on a "buy now, get more stuff for free later" policy.

@Mekkor I'll agree with you on needing a story to play a game, but not on a game needing graphics.

  33. @Shaw I have been meaning to get new mods now I am up on 1.8 and lost it, but will I have to start a new world with a new texture pack? If this is the case then I can't do it, I've put too much work into this thing on this world, it's why even though I am on 1.8 I'm still on survival mode.
