Apathy Divine

Today was almost a tricky thing to blog on if I'm honest. Given the date part of me wanted to do a post about the events of 9/11, but I'm not an American, and I was quite young when they happened, and I didn't want to piss anyone off. I've done it before, and I don't fancy doing it again. Especially when now being thought of as anti-American or ignorant would lose me some followers. So instead I'm just going to say that my thoughts are with the people who suffered loss back then, and who continue to suffer. It was a damn shame what happened, no matter what you might think about the circumstances of it happening, it cannot be denied that many people died, and that's always something worth remembering.

That being said, last week I promised something more metal for my music post, as it is a Sunday, so here's something that may go down well, may not. It's two songs this week, Faith and Snow, which are Apathy Divine Part 1 and 2 respectively. They go together so I'm posting them together. Altogether it's about 12 minutes long, but it's a good listen, and easily worth it. Even if this isn't your thing, I recommend at least looking at the lyrics, there's some really good lines in there.

The first part, Faith:

Sorry guys but I couldn't get it anywhere but Youtube :( So sorry if it's not allowed in your country, because youtube are evil.

The second part: Snow

These are really good songs, with some good lyrics, and Wuthering Heights are a pretty good band, as well as being a pretty good book. Alright, I don't know what the book is like, never read it. I know people who have though, and they've said it's good. So eh. Enjoy!

  1. I agree, posting about 9/11 just isn't worth it. Unless every one of your readers are America-sympathetic/believe the whole thing was a conspiracy, then somebody is going to get hella offended no matter what your own views on the matter are. The best we can do is honor the lives that were lost.

It's kind of hard to forget with all those documentaries and stuff jabbing into your eyes.

  4. I prefer the first one out of the two. Metal music isn't my favourite genre? but this was okay. Think the guys voice ruined it a bit though coz I was happy just listening to the music lol!

  6. @the Rambler Indeed, no matter where you stand on the issue, people always seem to forget the one thing they were supposed to remember, the people who died.

  13. It's a great book (better than what it is always compared to: Jane Eyre). Good book, good band.

  14. I'm not even in America but I keep seeing and hearing 9/11 on the news, to the point that I'm sick of it. I do not wish to disrespect the victims but the media just won't shut up about the tragedy.

On another note, that music is gorgeous especially the violine intro.

  15. @Lord Phrozen I'm English myself, and I have the same viewpoint. I really only included it so no one would ask me why I didn't, and to just say to people "Look, it doesn't matter how it happened, people died, can you stop arguing for just one day?"

  16. I wish I still had long hair so I could properly head bang to this :(

  17. @ShawWhen I had my hair cut "short" it was still shoulder length. Not enough to headbang properly, but still winning.

  18. When I saw the name of the band I thought that it had something to do with the Novel; I was mistaken. Not too bad for metal, though.

  19. Well, I'm in America and I can tell you that I think the past is the past.

I really do appreciate how you made no mention of religion in your introduction there. It might not have been a deliberate thing but it's good on you to note somewhere in your mind that this affected more than Muslims and Christians.

Also good thing you did not talk about that silly "terrorists did it" conspiracy.
